Please note that each of the Ayurvedic Treatments described below requires that the client first complete a thorough initial consultation, unless the client is being referred for a specific treatment from another health practitioner.
Therapeutic administration of warm oil in a continuous gentle stream over the center of forehead, specifically at the location of the third eye or the sthapani marma point. The client lies comfortably supported on their back. This treatment is deeply soothing and rejuvenating to the mind and nervous system. The particular oils used and length of time for the treatment are determined by the consultant after the initial consultation. There are shower facilities available on-site.
Is a therapeutic treatment wherein the client remains fully clothed. Specific locations of the body called Marma points are pressed to facilitate energy movement in the area and corresponding organs, similar to acupressure massage. Which points or sequence of points and whether or not essential oils are used on the marmani is determined by the consultant after the initial consultation.
External application of a warm pool of purified butter (ghee) or oil over a localized area. The pool is formed using ring of wheat dough as a containing wall, then gently applying warm oil (or ghee) to fill the bottom of the pool. If an external Basthi is indicated during the consultation, the consultant will specify the location and the constituents to be used. The warm pool of oil (or ghee) is allowed to penetrate deeply into the specified area for 30 minutes. During which time, the therapist may also provide a parallel treatment (such as foot massage or yogic healing) if it is supportive to the main treatment, the external Basthi. If the client has an allergy to wheat, a non-wheat flour will be used to make the dough. Commonly used locations for external Basthis include but not limited to:
